the New EP, Wake Up, is being mastered at The Kitchen… RIGHT NOW!!!

The EP is nearing completion! Much thanks to Ashley Powell for his recording and studio expertise on the Wake Up EP. We now have the tracks Ashley worked on down in Chapel Hill at The Kitchen for mastering. These guys are true professionals and have an amazing list of clients under their belt. We are honored to now be a part of that list too. Check out The Kitchen, here.

We spent a couple of weekends with our good friend, Ashley Powell. With Ashley, we worked on finding a warm, sonic pallet for several of the songs on our upcoming, full-length album. Ashely truly captured the sound we were looking for — this guy is a true professional! But enough rambling, take a listen to what we worked up on the track, “Steel Rails.”

New Show Dates… and a Single

We’re ready to play. Yup, after months of honing in on our sound, revising and retooling, we’re feeling pretty confident to set our sound free to a live audience. Actually, we really can’t wait! Check our “Live” section for upcoming dates (with many more to be added to the mix soon).

And… next weekend, the band is heading to the studio to record our first single for the upcoming album. Song details and its release TBA. All we can say is, it’s going to be great.

Cheers,
The Lake Isle

We welcome Chris Micca…

We are super happy to have Chris joining The Lake Isle where he can add his superb stylings on the bass guitar. His work is already proving to be integral component to the sound; adding a much needed richness and depth to the heartbeat of the music. It sounds great.

Our new track, “Steel Rails.” You must hear this one.

This is our latest track, possibly inspired by the steel rails outside of our practice space. Enjoy!

New members… new music… new mojo?!

Hey all,
Much too much time has passed since the last update here, and fortunately, this is because we’ve been so busy at doing what we do for the past few months. We’ve made some new additions to the band, and it is safe to say these guys feel like a couple of puzzle pieces that fit right in. Working with us is Pat Malboeuf on guitar (whose projects include Basalt) and Andy Foster (Manamid) on percussion. These guys sound great and the ethereal tones we are already starting to tap into really show the promise of this project.

I’ll be performing tonight at the Maya Art Gallery on Tate St. This will be solo set and I’ll be featuring some of the raw versions of the tunes we’ve been working on collectively. Show starts around 8:30, also performing is Yank Yer Blue Jeans.

Speaking of music… here is another rough rough rough demo of the track Round and Round.

All the best,
-Mark D.

Virginia Pre-Master

We’ve been working on countless takes of older material, getting a sound that is just right to start pushing to a live audience. Here is a new take on an older track, Virginia. This version has a bit of a Slowdive/The Church feel to it and maybe even some hints of Sonic Youth. Take a listen, and let us know what you think! By the way, we’ve assembled a six-piece arsenal of musicians that will blow you away.

All the best,

Mark D.

And of course, here is the track: Virginia Pre Master

That new, Dream pop sound…

Take a listen to the sound we’re developing… this is a remix of the track Into the White, still much to work on but we think you’ll dig what you hear.

Cheers,
-m

Front Cover design for the new LP, Terrible Beauties

We are super stoked about how the album art is turning for the new LP. Here is a shot of the front cover. The Image itself was taken at the Dingle Coastline, in Ireland. A hauntingly beautiful place.
